EDUCATION
The Calcasieu Parish school system is the fifth largest
public school system in Louisiana with approximately
32,260 students in a total of 57 schools. An approximate
29:1 pupil/teacher ratio is maintained. Attendance
rates average 95% (well above the national average).
The private/parochial school system in Calcasieu Parish
consists of nine elementary schools, three high schools

HIGHER EDUCATION
McNeese State University,
a fully accredited university, was founded over 50
years ago and provides notable degree programs including
an MBA program and degrees in engineering and chemistry.

SOWELA Technical Institute
provides training in business and computer literacy,
as well as aviation oriented programs including a
